As a university-affiliated botanical garden, we accomplish our mission by focusing our work in four areas:

I. We create gardens that demonstrate the beauty and importance of plants, and we encourage the use of native species to support biodiversity.

II. We (re)discover, describe, and document plant biodiversity in the southeastern United States and beyond.

III. We prevent plant extinction, restore ecosystems, and steward natural areas to support biodiversity.

About the Ackland

Since 1958, The Ackland Art Museum has been one of North Carolina’s most important cultural resources. We serve broad local, state, and national constituencies as a unit of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Museum’s permanent collection consists of more than 21,000 works of art, featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper — drawings, prints, and photographs — as well as significant collections of European works, twentieth-century and contemporary art, and North Carolina pottery.

One of the most recognized athletic venues in America. The Smith Center became the home of the Tar Heels in 1986 and has since become a cherished traditional symbol of Carolina basketball. As a unit of the university, Morehead receives about one-third of its funding through state sources, one-third through ticket and gift sales, and one-third through gifts and grants.

The Carolina Basketball Museum, located on the ground floor of the Ernie Williamson Athletic Center, celebrates the rich history of the University of North Carolina men's basketball program.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM:
The Carolina Basketball Museum opened in 2008 and underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2017 to its current state. Visitors to the museum will enjoy a seven-minute video detailing the history and tradition of Carolina Basketball, interactive displays commemorating significant accomplishments, and a number of display cases filled with artifacts that tell the story of this great program.
